WHAT IS ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?

Orthodontics; is a branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of irregularities in the teeth and face (malocclusion). The main purpose of orthodontic treatment is a good closure. This means that properly aligned teeth are compatible with the teeth of the opposite jaw. A good closing; facilitates biting, chewing and speech. It helps to improve oral health and thus to improve general health and increases self-confidence.

Although orthodontic treatment is successful in children, adults also benefit from orthodontic treatment. Age is less important than having a proper number of teeth. In children, it may be necessary to wait for enough teeth to come out before starting treatment.

The length of orthodontic treatment depends on how serious the problem is and may extend from several months to 2.5 years. Most people take 1-2 years of treatment. The clinical and radiological examination of the orthodontist can be used to calculate an average duration.
